In 2008 Ackerman participated in the Reverse Pedagogy artist residency at the prestigous Banff Centre hosted by Paul Butler under the direction of Kitty Scott. In 2009, she went on to perform at the LIVE Biennial in Vancouver, and at the 53rd Venice Biennial, in Italy, where she first met her husband, and fellow artist, Ryan C. Doyle.  Ackerman has made appearances in C Magazine and on Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet.  She was an active member of the board of directors at 221a Artist Run Centre, Vancouver.  Currently, Zarah continues to experiment, and tackle married life, motherhood, curation, and collaberation.  Ackerman plans to relocate to Detroit in the near future, to spearhead an artist community project and residency program.

Zarah Ackerman was the valeditcorian of her class and received her BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2008.
